Nigeria track legend, Tobi Amusan, has claimed a third consecutive gold medal in the 100m hurdle at the ongoing 13th African games in Accra, Ghana. Amusan did it in style and in front of a jubilant crowd.
The defending champion who was initially booked for a false start rallied to finish at 12.89 seconds. She had won her first gold in 2015, 2019, and now 2024 in magical fashion.
Tobi Amusan crossed the finish line ahead of Madagascar’s Sidonie Fiadanantsoa and Zimbabwe’s Kamangirira Ashley Tinashe.
Following her triumphs in Brazzaville 2015, Rabat 2019, and now Accra 2023, the world record holder extends her record of being the only athlete to have won it more than twice.
In the women’s 4x100m, Amusan also led Nigeria’s team to win another gold, hitting the finish line in a time of 43.06s.
Justina Eyakpobeyan, Olajide Olayinka, Fore Abinusawa and Amusan achieved the feat and added to the country’s gold medal haul.
