A 33-year-old man, Ige Tunji Bola, has been sentenced to two months in prison with hard labour by an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrate Court for stealing cooking pots belonging to an elderly woman.
The presiding magistrate, Bankole Oluwasanmi, gave the judgment after the accused pleaded guilty to stealing pots worth N100,000 from one Adeniji Temiyemi in Ilawe-Ekiti on July 31.
Prosecutor Inspector Elijah Adejare told the court the offence violates Section 302(1)(a) of the Ekiti State Criminal Law, 2021.
Although the defence counsel, Barrister Joy Raphael, asked for leniency, the court proceeded with sentencing following the guilty plea.
