Following the expiration of the 48-hour period given to the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the finance minister has submitted the projected cost implications of implementing a new national minimum wage to the president.

Mr. Wale Edun was seen in company of the Minister of Budget and National Planning, Atiku Bagudu, as he presented President Tinubu with the cost implications of the new minimum wage in his office at the presidential villa in Abuja on Thursday.

Speaking to newsmen shortly after the presentation, the minister confirmed the purpose of his visit to the president and added “there is no cause for alarm.”

The report comes just in time as the tripartite committee on the new minimum wage are expected back at the negotiation table today after their meeting was adjourned yesterday to accommodate the meeting between Edun and the president.
