At least seven (7) people have been confirmed dead with eleven (11) others sustaining various degrees in a ghastly motor accident that occurred on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway. A spokesperson for the Federal Road Safety Corp (FRSC), confirmed the accident in a statement and suggested the disaster may have been caused by over speeding.
The spokeswoman for the Ogun State Sector of the FRSC, Florence Okpe, in the statement said, “The suspected cause of the crash was excessive speed on the part of the Madza bus driver who rammed into a moving truck from the rear.
“The injured victims were taken to PATMAG Hospital Ogere for medical attention while the corpses were deposited at FOS morgue, Ipara.”
“FRSC sympathised with the family of the victims and advised passengers to always be on alert to correct some wrong mistakes of drivers.”
The statement further cautioned road users to adhere to speed limits and observe all road signs.
