Operatives of the Delta State Police Command have arrested a 56-year-old man, Lucky Oyiboka, with 20 bags of illicit drugs suspected to be Indian hemp in the state.
The command’s spokesperson, Bright Edafe, disclosed this in a statement, saying the suspect was arrested on August 8, 2026, by operatives of the Command’s Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU) following a raid on a suspected criminal hideout in the state.
He said the operatives, acting on credible intelligence, conducted an intelligence-led raid on a suspected criminal hideout at Owa-Abbi in Ukwani Local Government Area, where Oyiboka was arrested.
According to him, a search of the premises led to the recovery of 21 bags of weeds suspected to be Indian hemp.
Edafe said preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect was allegedly involved in the distribution of illicit drugs in the state.
He added that investigation was ongoing to determine the extent of the alleged drug network and identify other persons connected to the operation.
He assured that the suspect would be charged to court upon conclusion of the investigation.
