Woman, 30, Remanded for Alleged Theft of N100,000 Worth of Yam

A 30-year-old woman, Zainab Musa, has been remanded by an Ile-Ife magistrates’ court for allegedly stealing yam valued at N100,000.

The prosecutor, Inspector Jimoh Irewole, informed the court that the defendant unlawfully entered the farmland of Mr. Suberu Ganiyu at Iwaro Farm in Ipetumodu, Ife North Local Government Area of Osun State. The incident allegedly occurred around 1 a.m. on January 22, 2025.

Musa faces a two-count charge of unlawful entry and stealing, offences that violate Section 4 of the Forcibly Entry of Land (Prohibition) Law and Section 390(9) of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun, 2021 and 2002 respectively.

When the charges were read, Musa, who appeared in court without legal representation, pleaded not guilty.

Magistrate O. B. Adeduwura ordered her remand at the Ipetumodu Divisional Police Headquarters and adjourned the case to February 3 for further mention.
