Police Arrest Three in Kano Over Fake Currency Worth N129 Billion

The Kano State Police Command has apprehended three individuals in possession of counterfeit currencies totalling ₦129,542,826,000. According to the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the seized fake currencies include $3,366,000, CFA51,970,000, and ₦1,443,000.

The suspects are currently in custody, assisting with investigations into the origin of the counterfeit notes.

In addition to the arrests, the command also recovered six live rounds of ammunition, three tricycles, eight motorcycles, and three parcels containing 175 wraps of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp. Other items seized include 250 diazepam tablets, 278 sheep, and seven cattle.

SP Kiyawa emphasized that the proactive measures of the police have significantly reduced incidents of kidnapping, armed robbery, thuggery, and drug-related crimes in the state. He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to maintaining security and deterring criminal activities in Kano.
