At least 14 people were killed and one injured in a late-night attack on Gidan Ado, a community in Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State.
Sam Jugo, National Publicity Secretary of the Irigwe Community Development Association (IDA), confirmed the incident and reported it to Operation Safe Haven, a multi-security task force. Security forces responded, but details about the attackers remain unclear as investigations are ongoing.
The victims, all natives of Irigwe from Bassa LGA, included individuals aged between 1 and 52 years. Among them were Dauda Arabo (48), Hassana Wula (52), and Sheba Ernest, a 1-year-old child. Linda Moses (32) sustained serious injuries and is receiving medical attention.
The attack occurred two days after security personnel were deployed to Riyom and four other LGAs ahead of the festive season. Jugo urged restraint while calling for proactive measures from security agencies to prevent future occurrences and potential reprisals.
