Operatives of the Nigerian Police, FCT command, have arrested and paraded the suspected killers of a retired army general who was attacked and killed at his home over the weekend.
The deceased, Brigadier General Uwem Udukwere, was attacked in an apparent robbery gone wrong. One of the suspects said “one Alhaji told us the general had money in his house. We went there to rob him, but when he brought out his gun, we had to attack him with our knives. We did not plan to kill him.”
While parading the suspects, the FCT commissioner of Police, Benneth Igweh said “At Kabusa and Pigbakasa Apo in FCT, Abuja Utako Division operatives led by CCP Victor Godfrey arrested four suspects who robbed and murdered a retired Brigadier General, Gen. Uwen Harold (Retd) N/5575 15th Regular course at house, No. 9 Sanga Street, Sunshine Homes, by Kabusa Junction Lokogoma, FCT, Abuja.”
The suspects include 33-year-old Ibrahim Rabiu, from Dala Local Government Area of Kano state, Nafiu Jamil, 33, from Tofa council in Kano, Aliyu Abdullahi, 47, from Shinkafi Local Government of Zamfara state, Mohammed Nuhu, 28, from Kumbotso, Kano, all residents of Abuja.
Police say they recovered a knife reportedly used in the attack.
