Operatives of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Police Command have raided a kidnappers’ hideout in Jibi forest, on the border of Dei-Dei area in the FCT, Abuja and arrested one suspect in the process.
This information was shared in a statement in a statement signed by the FCT command’s spokesperson and posted on the forces’ X account on Monday, March 25th, 2024.
The spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, said in the statement that exhibits such as firearms and cows were recovered from the camp.
The statement read, “the operatives of the FCT Police Command, in a continued fight against banditry in FCT, stormed a kidnappers’ den in Jibi forest bordering Dei-dei Abuja on March 23, 2024, at about 6am. On sighting police operatives, the bandits fled from their hideouts to escape arrest.
“The crime prevention operation was carried out on the heels of a credible intelligence that one Mallam Danyaboi and Ilu, gang members and colleagues to one Nasiru Mohammed aka, Danger, who was earlier arrested and paraded by the police command on March 11, 2024, in connection with a series of kidnappings in FCT, had planned a reprisal kidnapping attack in Zuba and its environs for the arrest of their members.
“Exhibits such as firearms and cows were recovered from the camp.”
Recall, the FCT has recorded a series of unfortunate robbery and kidnapping incidents in recent months, prompting the national assembly to invite the FCT minister, Nyesom Wike, to brief the lawmakers on the efforts his office is making to curb the menace.
