Suspected bandits reportedly attacked and killed the chief of Gidan Usmanu village, Karim lamido local government area of taraba state, Mr. Auwal Wali, in his residence.
The spokesman for the army 6 brigade, Oni Olubodunde, confirming the incident, commiserated with the family of the slain monarch, assuring the perpetrators of the attack will be brought to book.
He said the commander 6 brigade/sector 3 operation whirl stroke, brigadier general Kingsley Uwa, conducted an operational visit to remote areas in Lau and Karim Lamido local councils of the state.
According to Olubodunde, the visit was to reassure the local population of the unwavering commitment of troops to securing the citizens, and to strengthen the partnership between the army, and the communities to flush out criminal elements hibernating within the area.
“We are here to express our condolences to the people of Gidan Usmanu and also to reaffirm our commitment to the safety and well-being of the people of Taraba State,” Uwa was quoted as saying.
“Your support is invaluable to our mission, and we will continue to work together to ensure a secure environment for all residents,” he said.
He commended members of the community for their continued cooperation with the military and urged them to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the authorities.
The Taraba state police command is yet to react to the attack.
