Suspected armed bandits reportedly attacked a community in Zamfara state, killing a total of 11 people including 7 police officers and 4 residents. The incident was recorded in Magarya community in Zurmi local government of the state.

Additionally, 3 cars, including one belonging to the district head of the community, who is the brother of the former speaker of the Zamfara state house of assembly, Nasir Magarya, were also destroyed.

A resident of the community, Ahmad Umar, who confirmed the incident added that the Magarya model primary school was set ablaze, and many people sustained various degrees of injuries in the attack.

Also speaking on the brutal attack is the former speaker of the state assembly, Nasiru Muazu Magarya.

“The bandits entered the town in their large numbers with very sophisticated weapons, they killed twelve people including seven Policemen deployed to the town,” he said.

“The vehicles were burnt including that of my elder brother who is the district head of our community, some part of my house was also set ablaze and the Magarya model Primary school.”

The former speaker said some of the mobile Policemen deployed to the town ran for safety owing to the number of the bandits that attacked the community.
