Suspected bandits have killed three people and abducted 26 others in fresh attacks on Kauran Namoda communities in Zamfara State.
The attacks, which spanned several villages including Sabon Gari and Kungurki, occurred between Thursday and Saturday. Locals say the bandits, believed to be loyal to notorious kingpin Dan Sade, struck in the early hours and kidnapped entire families.
Despite the presence of security personnel nearby, residents say the attackers operate freely. In a related attack, the Secretary of Birnin Magaji LGA was shot, and two commercial drivers were killed along the Kaura-Gusau road.
Governor Dauda Lawal has vowed to tackle insecurity, launching a Community Protection Guard and donating 140 vehicles to security agencies.
