At least, thirteen (13) people, including 12 women and a man have reportedly been kidnapped in a fresh bandits’ attack at Kurechin Giye village of Makera ward in Dutsinma local government area of Katsina state on Monday night.
The attackers, residents say, came heavily armed with dangerous and sophisticated weapons, ransacked the village and made away with valuable properties worth millions of Naira.
A villager said, “on their arrival, the hoodlums were said to have been splashing hot millet-inclined drink prepared by the residents to break the fast on small children and women and eventually carted away property worth millions of naira”.
Katsina, in recent years, have suffered devastating losses as a result of bandit attacks, with several citizens kidnapped for ransom, maimed or killed.
Government officials and other security forces in the state are yet to comment on the issue but the residents are adamant and disappointed, pointing out the attack lasted for hours and there was no security intervention or reinforcement.
