The police in Akwa Ibom have confirmed the death of a final year student of the state polytechnic. The victim, police say, was reportedly shot by suspected armed robbers. According to reports, armed operatives have been terrorizing the Akwa Ibom state polytechnic, Ikot Osurua, school environment for a while until this latest incident where the student, simply identified as Saviour, a final year student of electrical electronics department was killed in cold blood.
It was gathered that the incident happened on Saturday at about 8pm when the victim tried dragging his cellphone with the robbers close to where his residence at Ikot Uboh, Ikot Ekpene local government area.
Responding to the reports, the police public relations officer, ASP Timfon John, said the command was working to ensure that the culprits are apprehended.
“The perpetrators will be apprehended and made to face the full weight of the law. It is the determination of CP Waheed Ayilara to rid Akwa Ibom State of criminal elements. And this is not negotiable,” the police spokeswoman vowed.
