Air Peace, foreign airlines suspend flights as NiMet strike grounds operations

Flights across Nigeria have been disrupted as the strike by staff of the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) enters day three. Air Peace has suspended all flights nationwide, citing safety concerns due to lack of weather updates from NiMet.

The strike, led by aviation unions over poor welfare and broken agreements, has affected 56 weather stations across the country. Without weather reports, many flights can’t operate safely, leaving passengers stranded.

The Minister of Aviation, Festus Keyamo, has summoned NiMet and union leaders for an emergency meeting. Unions insist the strike will continue until all agreements are honoured.
