Air Peace’s Chief Operating Officer, Mrs. Oluwatoyin Olajide, defended the airline against allegations of exploitative fares, stating that high operating costs make sustainable pricing challenging.

She explained that a one-hour flight consumes approximately ₦7 million worth of Jet A1 fuel, with insurance adding another ₦5 million and ACMI costs reaching $4,000 per hour. Despite these costs, tickets are priced between ₦95,000 and ₦120,000.

Olajide criticized claims of passenger exploitation and emphasized that Nigerian airlines sacrifice profits to keep fares affordable. She attributed a lost foreign slot application to negative reports, urging better support for local airlines.

Additionally, she commended the federal government’s backing and highlighted Air Peace’s role in reducing ticket prices on international and regional routes.
