Passengers on the Abuja–Kaduna train were left stranded on Tuesday morning after the train derailed near Jere, about 11:00 am.
Witnesses said the situation caused panic as commuters rushed to safety, though no injuries or deaths were reported.
Military personnel were quickly deployed to the scene to secure the area, while officials of the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) are yet to release an official statement on the incident.
This is not the first time such an incident has occurred. In May 2024, another Abuja–Kaduna train derailed, raising fresh concerns about the safety of the busy route.
More details are expected.
