Former Military President Ibrahim Babangida (IBB) has admitted that MKO Abiola won the June 12, 1993 presidential election.
In his autobiography, A Journey in Service, launched in Abuja on Thursday, Babangida said he was convinced of Abiola’s victory. Former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, who reviewed the book, quoted IBB as saying he would have handled the election differently if given another chance.
Abiola was leading against Bashir Tofa when the military halted the announcement of results. Babangida also praised ex-President Buhari for posthumously honouring Abiola with the GCFR title.
