Zenith Bank PLC has announced the appointment of Dr. Adaora Umeoji as the group managing director and chief executive officer. Dr. Umeoji is expected to take over from outgoing CEO, Dr. Ebenezer Onyeagwu whose tenure expires on May 31st, 2024.
The incoming CEO has been the deputy managing director of the bank for close to 8 years, since her appointment in October 2016. She is a 26-year veteran with the bank and holds a 30-year cumulative banking experience.
Dr. Adaora Umeoji comes to the job with an extensive wealth of experience and qualifications having earned bachelor’s degrees in law and accounting, master’s degrees in law and business administration alongside her certificate in economics and business from MIT Sloan school of management, in the USA and a certificate in leading global business from Harvard business school.
Dr. Umeoji also hold a national honour as an officer of the order of the Niger amongst other prestigious awards.
