Hundreds of residents from Gusau LGA in Zamfara State staged a peaceful protest on Wednesday, calling for urgent action over rising insecurity.
They said more than 100 people were recently killed in attacks on villages like Mada, Ruwan Bore, Fegin Mahe, and others. Protesters, some on motorcycles and others on foot, marched to the Government House in Gusau to express their frustration.
A protester, Abubakar Abdullahi, said he lost relatives and goods worth over N1 million. Residents also say farming is no longer safe.
Reacting, the local council chairman, through a representative, assured that security agencies would be deployed soon to the affected communities.
Meanwhile, 11 kidnap victims abducted from Sokoto State were rescued in Zamfara and handed over to Sokoto authorities.
