Nentawe May Emerge APC Chairman Today

0

Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, is likely to be named the new national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at today’s NEC meeting in Abuja.

Sources say Nentawe is the frontrunner, with support from President Bola Tinubu and key party leaders. His selection is seen as a move to return the chairmanship to the North Central region and address concerns over the party’s Muslim-Muslim leadership.

Though former Nasarawa governor, Senator Tanko Al-Makura, is still being considered, insiders say there’s strong backing for a Christian from the Middle Belt.

Nentawe, a former REC in Benue and APC’s 2023 Plateau governorship candidate, is viewed as a strategic choice. However, some party members question his political experience and note his short time in the party.

The final decision rests with the NEC, which is also expected to address zoning and other leadership matters.
