The Zamfara State Government has placed a ban on all political gatherings in the state, citing security concerns.
Governor Dauda Lawal’s media aide, Mustapha Jafaru Kaura, said the move was necessary following a violent clash in Maru Local Government. “All political activities capable of causing unrest have been suspended. This is not to suppress anyone but to maintain peace,” he stated.
However, the opposition APC has rejected the ban, calling it illegal. APC spokesperson Yusuf Idris Gusau said, “There is no law that permits banning political gatherings. The government is simply scared of our party’s growing influence.”
