Worshipers narrowly escaped death at a Mosque in Barade house, opposite old licensing office in Kontagora, Niger state, when a truck loaded with baskets of mango lost control and rammed into the veranda of the mosque, causing significant damages.
Thankfully, no life was lost in the incident, nor any injuries recorded.
Eyewitnesses say worshipers had just dispersed few moments after the Tahajjud prayers around 4am on Thursday morning when the incident happened.
The incident reportedly happened close to a section where women and children stayed for the Tahajjud prayers.
An eyewitness said the incident happened less than 10 minutes after the prayers. He said “We thank God. The side where the truck rammed into was the female and children section of the Mosque.
“People had just finished the Tahajjud prayers and left when the incident happened.
“No life was lost but damages were done to the Mosque,” he said.
The driver was said to have taken off from Bida, Niger state and was heading to Sokoto with the goods and four passengers when he dozed off and skidded off the road.
