A Magistrate Court in Ado-Ekiti has ordered the remand of a 20-year-old woman, Joy Ikoja, accused of injuring her boyfriend’s private parts.
The court also granted the Ekiti Ministry of Justice permission to take over the case, following a request by the Nigerian Bar Association, which described the act as attempted murder.
The prosecution said violence against men is on the rise and must be addressed. The defendant had faced a similar charge recently, but the case was withdrawn after a plea from the victim.
Her bail request was denied, and the matter was adjourned to May 12.
