Police in Adamawa State are investigating a case where a 33-year-old woman, Salamatu, allegedly poured hot water on her ex-husband’s fiancée in the Jambutu area of Yola.
Witnesses said Salamatu attacked the victim out of jealousy after learning of her ex-husband’s plan to remarry.
The victim’s friend, Safiya, said they were together earlier that day before the victim went to meet her fiancé. “The next morning, I got a call that she had been bathed with hot water,” she said.
Police spokesman SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje confirmed the attack and said two suspects have been arrested.
The victim’s fiancé, Yusuf, 42, said he had stepped out to charge his fiancée’s phone when the incident happened.
One of the suspects, Fatima Abubakar, 23, denied taking part in the attack, saying she only helped the victim after the incident.
Police say investigations are ongoing.
