FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has flagged off a new clean-up campaign across Abuja, targeting street beggars, illegal traders, scavengers, and loiterers.
Dubbed “Operation Sweep Abuja,” the exercise involves a joint task force made up of security agencies and relevant FCTA departments.
According to Wike’s aide, Lere Olayinka, the operation is backed by the Abuja Environmental Protection Act and aims to restore order in the city.
Those arrested will be profiled and returned to their home states for reintegration.
“Security is my job, your job, and our job,” the minister said, urging residents to support the exercise.
