The Kwara State Government says it’s unable to find doctors to recruit due to the rising ‘Japa’ trend.

Dr Abdulraheem Abdulmalik, head of the Hospital Management Board, revealed that though Governor Abdulrazaq approved recruitment, qualified doctors are scarce.

“We need up to 200 doctors, but only 99 are available,” he said, adding that a few returned after salaries were increased.

To manage the shortage, the state plans to sponsor medical students in exchange for post-graduation service and is developing an app to show doctor availability at its hospitals.
