The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) has arrested Uadiale Christiana Jacob, also known as Christy Gold, a notorious member of an international human trafficking syndicate.

Christy Gold, who had been on the run for over five years, was apprehended on December 31, 2024, at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja. Her arrest occurred upon her return from Dubai, where she had reportedly been celebrating the New Year.

NAPTIP disclosed that the suspect had violated her bail conditions years ago and fled to the United Arab Emirates (UAE). She had been convicted in absentia for trafficking underage Nigerian girls to Dubai, where they were forced into prostitution.

The arrest marks the culmination of extensive collaboration among NAPTIP, the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Interpol, and the UAE police. Speaking on the development, NAPTIP’s Director General, Binta Adamu Bello, praised the collaborative efforts that led to Christy Gold’s capture.

“This is a clear message to the rest of the criminal gang: you can hide for a while, but you can never hide forever,” Bello stated. “We are more determined than ever to protect Nigerians from trafficking and exploitation.”

NAPTIP’s efforts underscore its commitment to dismantling trafficking networks and ensuring justice for victims of human trafficking. The agency reaffirmed its resolve to collaborate with international and local partners in its mission to combat human trafficking and related crimes.
