WAEC Releases Results, Pass Rate Rises to 53.64%

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has released the results of the 2024 November/December West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for private candidates.

Dr. Dangut Amos, WAEC Nigeria’s Head of National Office, announced that 65,023 candidates sat for the exam, with 53.64% (34,878 candidates) securing credits in at least five subjects, including English and Mathematics. This reflects an improvement from 44.29% in 2023 and 42.16% in 2022.

WAEC confirmed that 95.90% of results have been fully processed, while 4.1% remain pending due to errors. However, 2,577 results (3.98%) were withheld over suspected malpractice, pending further review.

Additionally, 157 special needs candidates, including visually and hearing-impaired students, had their results processed and released.
