US Denies Funding Boko Haram

The United States has dismissed claims that it funds Boko Haram, reaffirming its commitment to Nigeria’s fight against terrorism.

US Ambassador Richard M. Mills Jr. denied the allegation after a meeting with Nigeria’s 36 state governors in Abuja. His response followed US Congressman Scott Perry’s claim that USAID funds were being diverted to terrorist groups, including Boko Haram.

“There is absolutely no evidence of this,” Mills said. “If any proof emerges, we would investigate immediately with our Nigerian partners.”

He stressed that the US has classified Boko Haram as a terrorist organization since 2013, blocking its access to American financial systems and enabling joint investigations with Nigeria.

“The US stands firmly with Nigeria in eliminating Boko Haram,” he added, assuring that strict measures prevent any aid from reaching terrorist groups.
