UAE to Resume Issuing Visas to Nigerians.

Nigeria’s Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has disclosed that the United Arab Emirates has agreed to lift their visa restrictions on Nigerian passport holders. Idris disclosed this when he spoke with newsmen shortly after the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting on Monday, presided over by the president, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The minister said the Nigeria government and that of the UAE reached an agreement and all visa restrictions will be lifted immediately. He added that Nigerians can now start travelling to the middle eastern country without delay.

“I can tell you that the agreement has been reached and effective from today, Nigerian passport holders intending to travel to the UAE are able to do so.

“You are aware that Nigeria has been discussing with the United Arab Emirates the issue of visas for Nigerian passport holders going to the United Arab Emirates.

“Today, an agreement has been reached on that, and effective from today 15th July, Nigerian passport holders are able to obtain visas to go to the United Arab Emirates.

“Details of that will be provided to you later today when we put out a statement.”

Recall that the UAE imposed the visa ban on Nigeria in connection with several diplomatic disputes. In June, the federal government of Nigeria, through the minister of aviation, Festus Keyamo, announced it had begun repairing the diplomatic breach and the restrictions would soon  be lifted.
