The U.S. Mission in Nigeria has advised its citizens to avoid military and government facilities in Abuja due to rising global security concerns.
In a statement issued Sunday, it said all embassy staff and their families are barred from visiting such sites unless on official duty.
The embassy urged Americans to stay alert, avoid large gatherings, and review their personal security plans.
The Federal Government, however, said there’s no specific threat to the FCT and reassured the public that Abuja remains safe.
A senior military official told Daily Trust there’s no credible threat to any facility, calling the advisory “unnecessary panic.”
