Operatives of the Nigerian army reportedly shot and killed two suspected bandits at a Fulani settlement near Gidan-Makeri village in Kagarko LGA of Kaduna State. The suspects were reportedly armed with some sophisticated weapons and traveled on motorcycles to attack the settlement. They were reportedly attempting to steal some cows and sheep when the incident happened.
A resident of the community, Shehu Bala, confirmed the incident and said it happened on Sunday afternoon, at about 5pm. He said, “The troops were on patrol in the Janjala-Gidan-Makeri axis when they came in contact with the bandits who had already perfected plans to invade a Fulani camp in order to rustle their cows and sheep. The troops engaged them in a gun duel and killed two of the bandits.”
“In fact, even residents of neighbouring Janjala were terrified during the exchange of gunshots.”
On discovering some of their accomplices had been shot, the other suspected bandits fled the scene.
The spokesman for the Kaduna police command is yet to comment on the report at the time of filing.
