Trust TV Wins Best Documentary Award

Trust TV has won the Best TV Production in Documentary/Feature (English) at the 2nd edition of the Broadcasting Awards, further cementing its reputation for impactful storytelling and high-quality content production.

The award-winning documentary titled, “The Last Cotton Factory in Funtua,” explores the decline of Nigeria’s once-thriving textile industry through the story of the last standing cotton processing facility in Funtua, Katsina State.

Through compelling visuals and in-depth reporting, the production captures the economic and social realities surrounding the collapse of the textile sector, once a major employer and driver of industrial growth in Northern Nigeria. The documentary also highlights the resilience of workers and the broader implications for local communities affected by the industry’s downturn.

Speaking on the recognition, Group Editorial Director/Editor in Chief of Media Trust Group, Ibrahim Shehu, described the award as a testament to the organisation’s commitment to telling authentic Nigerian stories that matter, while shining a light on underreported issues.

The win marks a significant milestone for Trust TV, reinforcing its position as a leading broadcaster in documentary and feature storytelling.

Trust TV, a subsidiary of Media Trust Group, continues to expand its footprint in original programming, with a focus on documentaries, current affairs, and human-interest stories that resonate with diverse audiences.
