U.S. President Donald Trump has hinted at the possibility of fresh nuclear negotiations with Iran next week, following a temporary truce in the deadly exchange of strikes between Iran and Israel.
Trump, speaking to reporters, said both countries were “tired and exhausted” and suggested that talks could lead to an agreement — though he added, “I don’t care if I have an agreement or not.”
He credited recent U.S. airstrikes for significantly damaging Iran’s nuclear capabilities, claiming they had set the programme back “by decades.”
However, U.S. intelligence assessments reportedly suggest the setback may only amount to a few months. Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian has expressed willingness to return to dialogue but stressed the country’s right to use nuclear energy peacefully.
