President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has called on the Senate to approve the removal of three suspended Resident Electoral Commissioners from Abia, Adamawa, and Sokoto States.
In a letter addressed to Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Tinubu explained that the commissioners—Ike Uzochukwu (Abia), Hudu Yunusa-Ari (Adamawa), and Nura Ali (Sokoto)—were suspended by INEC for alleged misconduct during the 2023 general elections, even before his current administration took office more than a year ago.
The letter, read on the Senate floor on Wednesday, stated that the RECs have been under suspension since March 2022 and urged the lawmakers to consider the request promptly.
Tinubu expressed confidence that the Senate would act expeditiously and concluded by extending his highest regards to the senators.
