President Bola Tinubu is heading to Lagos today for the 50th anniversary of ECOWAS and the Eid-el-Kabir festivities.
The Lagos event will revisit the 1975 founding of ECOWAS at the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs, with President Tinubu—who chairs the bloc—set to highlight its milestones. Former Head of State Gen. Yakubu Gowon (Rtd), the only surviving leader who signed the original treaty, will deliver a speech.
While in Lagos, Tinubu will commission key infrastructure projects, including parts of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway and Lekki Deep Sea Port Road, and flag off other road projects virtually.
He will observe Eid prayers at Dodan Barracks before returning to Abuja.
