APC North-East Vice Chairman, Mustapha Salihu, says President Bola Tinubu will decide who runs with him in 2027, downplaying speculations over the exclusion of Vice President Kashim Shettima’s name during a recent endorsement.
Speaking on Channels TV, Salihu clarified that he praised Shettima in his remarks but only endorsed Tinubu, which is standard in party primaries. “There’s only one ticket at this stage—the running mate comes later,” he said.
He dismissed talks of a rift, blaming “conflict entrepreneurs” for stirring tension. The summit in Gombe saw brief disruptions after the omission, with Senator Ali Ndume later warning that such moves could backfire politically.
Salihu insisted no one was coerced and hinted that internal disciplinary steps may follow.
