President Bola Ahmed Tinubu says despite facing intense criticism, he remains committed to protecting democracy—even for those who dislike him.

Speaking during a visit to Benue State over recent killings, Tinubu said: “They hate me like hell, but I’m here. Abuse me all you want, I’ll still defend your freedom. That’s democracy.”

He urged Governor Hyacinth Alia to prioritise human life, stressing, “The value of a human life is greater than that of a cow.”

The President acknowledged that political enemies often exploit crises. “They don’t want you to succeed,” he said. “No matter what I do, they’ll still abuse me.”

Tinubu added that he reads media reports and learns from even his harshest critics. His visit follows growing security concerns in Benue and rising calls for federal action.
