President Bola Tinubu has placed a temporary ban on the export of raw shea nuts, effective immediately.
The decision, announced by the Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Senator Abubakar Kyari, at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Tuesday, is part of government efforts to strengthen Nigeria’s shea industry.
According to the President, the move will encourage more local processing, increase export value, and stabilize the sector. He explained that the shea value chain has the potential to generate about 300 million dollars annually in the short term if properly harnessed.
Further details are expected to follow.
