President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Tuesday met with suspended Rivers Governor Siminalayi Fubara at his residence in Lagos as part of efforts to resolve the political crisis in the state.
Although details of the meeting remain unclear, it comes amid ongoing talks aimed at reconciling Fubara and the Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike.
Fubara was suspended in March after a long-running political rift with Wike, which led to a split in the state assembly and a breakdown in governance. The crisis prompted President Tinubu to declare a state of emergency and appoint an interim administrator to run the state.
Presidential aide Bayo Onanuga confirmed Tuesday’s meeting in a Facebook post.
The Lagos meeting is the second known encounter between Tinubu and Fubara since the crisis began.
