The Sole Administrator of Rivers State, Ibok Ibas, says President Bola Tinubu appointed him to restore peace, security, and stability amid the ongoing political crisis.
In a statewide address on Thursday, Ibas described the situation as a threat to governance and the economy, stressing that his role is to ensure law and order.
“This is not about politics but about restoring normalcy. My duty is to stabilize the state and create a path for democratic institutions to function again,” he said.
He assured residents that civil liberties would be respected but warned against any attempts to disrupt peace or sabotage infrastructure.
Ibas added that he had met with security agencies and would outline a roadmap in the coming days to restore government operations and engage stakeholders.
