The National Counter-Terrorism Centre (NCTC) has raised concerns over terrorists leveraging modern technology and socio-political weaknesses to expand their operations.
NCTC Coordinator, Maj.-Gen. Adamu Garba Laka, stated this at a stakeholders’ meeting in Abuja, stressing the need to update Nigeria’s counter-terrorism strategy to match evolving threats.
He emphasized that while military operations remain vital, addressing radicalization is key. The review aims to adopt a balanced approach to counterterrorism.
NCTC also highlighted emerging threats, including the Lakurawa armed group in the North-West, calling for stronger coordination among security agencies.
