Oba Odidiomo Afolabi, the Olu of Igbokoda in Ondo State, was reportedly assaulted by a community leader on Monday during the flag-off of a 27.5km road project by Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa.

The incident, which occurred before the governor’s arrival, was said to have started over a disagreement about seating. Witnesses said the monarch asked the community leader to vacate the front row for traditional rulers, but the man refused and allegedly attacked the king, biting his ear and removing his crown.

Oba Odidiomo was taken to the hospital and missed the event. The assault sparked protests in the community, with youths and women demanding justice. The police said the case had not been officially reported.
