Nigerian singer, songwriter, and record producer Tems emerged as a standout winner at the 67th Grammy Awards, clinching the award for Best African Music Performance.
The ceremony, held at Los Angeles’ Crypto.com Arena on Sunday, saw Tems take home the accolade for her love ballad “Love Me Jeje.”
Her performance outpaced stiff competition from notable acts including Yemi Alade’s “Tomorrow,” Asake featuring Wizkid’s “MMS,” Chris Brown with Davido and Lojay on “Sensational,” and Burna Boy’s “Higher.”
In her acceptance speech, Tems expressed deep gratitude, saying, “Dear God, thank you so much for putting me on this stage and bringing me this team,” and dedicated her win to her mother.
At 29, Tems now holds more Grammy awards than any other Nigerian artist—a milestone marked by her second win after her 2023 triumph for Best Melodic Rap Performance on the hit “Wait For U” with Future and Drake.
