The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced a suspension of their planned routine maintenance they said would plunge customers in Ekiti and Ondo states in darkness for an extended period of time daily, for two months.
The government of Ekiti State and consumers in the respective stated had rejected the plan calling it insensitive and inhumane and the commissioner for Public Utilities in Ekiti state summoned officials of TCN and other stakeholders to an emergency meeting.
Announcing the suspension, the Head of Branding and Corporate Communications at Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC), Evelyn Gbiwen, said the suspension is until further notice.
“We wish to announce that we have just received further updates from TCN to the effect that TCN has suspended the planned outage on Osogbo/Akure and Ado-Ekiti 132KV lines.
“The planned power outage which was previously scheduled for July 1 to Aug. 31, has been suspended till further notice.
“Our services will, therefore, continue without interruption,” she said.
