Dozens of students were trapped on Wednesday after classrooms collapsed during an ongoing SSCE exam at Government Secondary School, Namne, in Gassol LGA of Taraba State.
The incident occurred around 6pm during a heavy downpour with strong winds. Residents said the second batch of students was writing the exam when the buildings gave way. The first group had already finished and left.
Injured students, teachers, and corps members were taken to a nearby health centre. Community members also reported that the storm destroyed several houses in the area.
In Jalingo, some students were forced to stay at school past 1am due to the rain that began mid-exam and lasted for hours.
