Suspected Terrorists Attack Kebbi Immigration Post, Kill Four

A deadly attack on a border post in Kangiwa Local Government Area of Kebbi State has claimed the lives of four people, the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) confirmed on Sunday.

In a statement by NIS spokesman, Deputy Comptroller of Immigration (DCI) Kenneth Udo, it was revealed that a local watchman and three contractors working at the site were killed during the Friday night assault. No immigration personnel were among the casualties.

“At approximately 7:20 p.m. on January 10, 2025, a suspected terrorist group launched an attack on the Kangiwa border facility. The incident tragically resulted in the deaths of four individuals — a local watchman and three contractors. Fortunately, no immigration officer lost their life, although significant damage was inflicted on the border infrastructure,” Udo disclosed.

Expressing condolences to the bereaved families, Udo emphasized the service’s commitment to securing the nation’s borders and collaborating with other security agencies to bring those responsible to justice.

“The Nigeria Immigration Service remains resolute in its mission to safeguard our borders and strengthen national security efforts,” he assured.

Efforts to identify and apprehend the attackers are underway, with authorities vowing to leave no stone unturned in their pursuit of justice. The incident marks yet another reminder of the security challenges facing critical national installations.
