The Kogi State Government has reiterated its policy requiring prospective students to present their parents’ Tax Clearance Certificate (TCC) as a mandatory criterion for admission into state-owned tertiary institutions.
The Chairman of the Kogi State Internal Revenue Service, Mr. Sule Enehe, made this announcement during a media chat held in Lokoja, the state capital.
Enehe emphasized that the enforcement of this policy aligns with the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, which mandates all citizens to declare their income, pay taxes, and face prosecution for non-compliance.
He noted that the policy, introduced two years ago, targets institutions such as Prince Abubakar Audu University, Ayingba, and Confluence University of Science and Technology, Osara.
The tax chief further revealed that a memo has been sent to intimate the Secretary to the State Government of the policy’s implementation. This was followed by public awareness campaigns, including jingles and announcements on radio and television stations.
